It had to be explained to me too. If I have it right then it's like this: thinking about the game means you lose, if you lose you have to say that you lost outloud (obviously making those around you lose), if someone runs up or writes a message like that /\ it reminds you of the game and obviously makes you lose again! It's crazy and pointless, but quite fun. :P

ah...so the whole point is...if you think about it, you lose. You get reminded about the game with that phrase, and thus, you lose.

I went through the whole con NOT knowing. I only heard about the whole meme of "You Lost The game" when the Otakon cosplay pre-show videos were up and one of the things on them was under the "Good Idea, Bad Idea" I believe. Good Idea was one thing, and under Bad Idea was "Losing the Game".
